On the edge of the Cevennes National Park, come and enjoy evenings of initiation to astronomy. Small walk under the stars, to discover the sky, the stars and the constellations.
In summer, we meet on Thursday evening near Villefort, when the temperature is pleasant again. The outing starts in the state forest of Bayard, near the hamlet of Balmelles.
An easy path leads to the Chapelas Roc, the highest point of the plateau, to enjoy the magnificent views. As evening approaches, we will enjoy a picnic lunch and regional products while admiring the sunset.
The first celestial bodies will rise in the sky: Jupiter, Saturn, Venus or Mars. We will be able to admire them with a telescope and observe the craters of the Moon if it is present. Then the stars will appear little by little. They will take us further and further into our dreams through the constellations, the myths that surround them and what they really are...
We will learn how to find our way in the sky, with the Big Dipper, the Little Dipper, the Dragon, Cassiopeia or even the Summer Triangle.
Equipment to bring :
Backpack (10 to 30L) to carry the picnic - Warm clothing (fleece / down jacket) - 1L water bottle - A pair of hiking shoes or sneakers - Headlamp (if possible that has a red light option) - Cushion or something to sit on the ground (optional).
Telescope, binoculars and star chart provided
