Maïthé and Jean-Paul welcome you in the charming farm of Transhumances rehabilitated in guest rooms, in Colmars-les-Alpes, in an exceptional setting.
La ferme des Transhumances, it's quite a story....
First and foremost, it's the story of generations of transhumance sheep farmers. It's also the story of a privileged site, overlooking the fortified town of Colmars-les-Alpes, with a 360° panorama of the Upper Verdon Valley. For Jean-Paul, joined by his wife Maïthé, it was a return to his roots.
In 1999, they opened three B&Bs: La Gardette, Le Laupon and Les Tours du Lac. Farming and tourism are closely linked, and are organized according to the rhythm of the seasons. The farm is still home to a transhumant herd of Mérinos d'Arles cattle.
Breakfast is served in the dining room, housed in the old cowshed, which has retained its beams, larch troughs and stone paving. This is the perfect opportunity to discover our homemade jams, made mainly with fruit from the garden or orchard, produced without chemical treatments or fertilizers
Whatever the season, they'll be happy to help you appreciate their surroundings: the village fortifications and the Lance waterfall are just a stone's throw away, and hiking and snowshoeing trails leave from the farm... Nearby, over 1,000 km of marked trails and the ski slopes of Ratery and Val d'Allos await you. But be careful! The serenity of our landscapes could well be contagious...
