Refuge of Cayolle (PNM)

Located in the commune of Uvernet-Fours (04), at the end of the beautiful winding road that leads to the eponymous pass at an altitude of 2,276 m, welcome to the refuge de la Cayolle!

The Cayolle refuge is run by Emmanuel Oudot, who took over from his mother 3 years ago. A fine family history, linked to that of a place that is THE meeting point for hikers discovering the Mercantour valleys.

The refuge has been completely renovated with the support of the National Park (which owns it) to become a place that now combines authenticity, simplicity and comfort.

Emmanuel Oudot offers a warm welcome and shares his passion for the area with hikers and visiting tourists.

The refuge is also a place dedicated to welcoming and educating the public. Since 2016, the space has featured a new museography entitled "At the heart of the Park". It consists of a series of visuals revealing the rich heritage of the National Park and the missions entrusted to the wardens, enabling the public to grasp the role of a protected natural area manager.

It also features a number of interactive educational tools which, through a playful, participatory approach, raise public awareness of the challenges of preserving biodiversity.
