In the heart of the Pyrenees National Park, come and admire the grandiose view of the Gavarnie creek, the Ossoue glacier and the Vignemale.
Lhe Espuguettes refuge, located at an altitude of 2,027 meters, on the heights of Gavarnie, a few hundred meters from the Pimené summit and the Alans hut(towards the Estaubé cirque), has one of the most beautiful views of the Gavarnie cirque and the Brèche de Roland.
It takes about 2 hours of walking from the village of Gavarnie to reach the refuge and to find yourself in the heart of this cultural and landscape asset listed as a UNESCO world heritage site.
Noémie and Pierre will welcome you for a break during your hike to have a drink, eat a good meal, sleep in a dormitory of 5 to 10 places, or simply to take shelter and get information.
Meals are prepared with local products which are brought to the refuge on the back of the guards or their donkeys. The waste is brought back down in the same way, so think of bringing your personal waste down to the valley.
Noémie and Pierre know the mountain like the back of their hand, so don't hesitate to ask them for advice on the choice of your hikes, they will guide you to discover the most beautiful panoramas of the area.
The refuge is open from June 3rd to September 25th 2022.
