School trip: schoolchildren in the mountains

Mainly for groups of pre-teens and teenagers, aged 11 to 14

The stay takes place in the Haut-Var area, in the Hameau d'Estenc, part of the Entraunes commune. Accommodation isat the refuge de la Cantonnière, a DDCS Jeunesse et Sports-approved youth hostel.

The discovery of the region's rich natural, historical and cultural heritage will be mainly on foot. Hiking is a great way to immerse yourself in the area. It's a great way to meet up with friends in an unfamiliar place. The aim of this trip is to take a class to an unspoilt natural site and share in two days of magical moments.

Overnight meals and breakfasts will be provided by the refuge.

Two outdoor activities will be offered in the heart of the Mercantour National Park:

- Hiking

- Discovering the mountain environment

Themain objectives of this training program are manifold. It aims to encourage and promote :

- the reappropriation of a mountain culture

- education in the mountain environment

- facilitate the integration of middle-school students into 6th, 5th and 4th grade classes

- the opportunity for schoolchildren to spend two days in the mountains and one night in a refuge

- long-term immersion in the natural environment

- deepening of this immersion with a night in a refuge, as well as the discovery of life in a refuge

Last but not least, this adventure is a real experience of living in a community, during which interpersonal skills and open-mindedness take on their full meaning.
