Chemin de la Mâture in loop by the pass of Arras

This impressive path, cut into the cliff, was specially designed to carry tree trunks for the ships of the Royal Navy. This path overlooks the famous Fort du Portalet. You will observe through the telescope vultures that nest in the cliffs. This day will also allow you to better understand the pastoral activity in the Arras district. Finally you will cross the Arras pass at an altitude of 1,300 meters.

Departure and meeting point : 8:30 am in front of the house of the Pyrenees National Park in Etsaut.

Duration: 6 hours of walking

Recommended equipment: mountain boots, fleece, windbreaker, sunglasses, sunscreen, cap or hat, water, garbage bag (to bring back your garbage), picnic, binoculars and hiking sticks.

The path of the Mâture is aerial but 2 to 4 meters wide on 1 km, be careful with people prone to the vacuum and young children.
