House of the mountain pastures

The Maison Départementale des Alpages focuses on pastoralism, both past and present, and on the life of a high-mountain village with its harsh environment and long winters.

Numerous objects, photos, slide shows, recorded stories - everything is here to remind you of life in the past, without forgetting that the village is still alive today. You'll see the sheep, the shepherds; you'll even hear the bells of the tarine cows and the drone of the ram. You'll also get an idea of pastoralism in Africa, as pastoralism and transhumance are widespread throughout the world.

Maison des Alpages open: From early May to late September

Every day from 9am to 12:30pm and from 1:15pm to 7pm in July and August.

Same times in May/June/September, but closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
