Located on the island of Porquerolles, in the heart of the Port-Cros National Park, the Villa Carmignac welcomes the public every year to discover contemporary art exhibitions, a sculpture garden and a cultural program.
In the heart of the Parc national de Port-Cros, visitors will discover contemporary works of art from the Carmignac collection, temporary exhibitions, a sculpture garden and a cultural program.
The island is not an insignificant choice: "As in any myth or voyage of initiation, the crossing to the island is always a double movement, one physical, the other mental. In the words of its Director, Charles Carmignac, "It's about crossing over to the other shore.
Arriving on the island, visitors discover a Provençal farmhouse, blending into the landscape. Inside, volumes expand to reveal 2,000 m2 of exhibition space. Natural light, filtered through an aquatic ceiling, illuminates the spaces hidden beneath the surface.
Outside, a 15-hectare garden designed by landscape architect Louis Benech is home to a series of works inspired by the site.
In 2023, Villa Carmignac invites you to discover the exhibition L'ÎLE INTÉRIEURE: April 29 to November 5, Tuesday to Sunday. Click HERE to find out more about the exhibition, and HERE to book your guided tour.

Musician and member of the folk-rock band Moriarty for 20 years, graduate in economics and political science (he created a newspaper sold to the group Les Echos), passionate about enigmas (he founded the company Ma langue au chat)... Charles Carmignac, 42 years old, could be qualified as a jack-of-all-trades. The difference is that this pragmatic creative goes to the end of his desires.
Since 2017 at the head of the Foundation created by his father, he says he is happy with this appointment:
Everything converges for me in this mission: art, economics, politics and even the enigmatic side. Everything interests me... I would have loved to be a gardener!
While his father's love affair with the island and the Villa dates back twenty years, he discovered them in 2012.
And it's a love story too. For sentimental, friendly and spiritual reasons, I am very attached to this place today. It has shifted a lot of lines in my life...it has transformed me.
The challenge of creating an art center on an island and in the heart of a national park, he considers it the key to success..
For my father, it couldn't be done anywhere else. He wanted a crossing, that you could leave your daily life behind, arrive with an open mind ready to welcome new things. What was the difficulty of the project is now its richness. The works are integrated into the landscape, the artists are inspired by the place and our partnership with the National Park is strengthened through common projects aiming to promote the dialogue between art and the preserved nature of the island.
What has marked him since the opening?
Seeing people crossed by a strong emotion, potentially transformed, when they were not necessarily art lovers... What is closest to his heart? To contribute through art and photojournalism to raise awareness and mobilize individual and collective consciousness.
For him, the Esprit Parc National brand is "in line with a commitment that we are pursuing with an experiment on water management, or the implementation of the principle of circular system with, in particular, the reuse of materials from the works in the vineyards that are worked in biodynamics
