Refuge of the Cougourde
40 persons

Perched above the Haut Boréon valley, in the heart of the Mercantour National Park, hikers can make a stop or spend the night at the Cougourde refuge, in the commune of Saint-Martin-Vésubie.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - STORM ALEX

Following the damage caused by storm Alex in early October 2020, several trails in the Salèse, Boréon and Madone de Fenestre valleys are dangerous and closed to the public.

The Cougourde refuge is perched high above the Haut Boréon valley, on the edge of the last remaining larches and cembro pines. Surrounded by mountain lakes, the environment is exceptional and well-preserved, with particularly rich flora and fauna.

The Mercantour National Park is an invitation to explore nature. There's plenty of hiking to be done around the refuge. The Caïre de Cougourde, the Lac de Trecolpas and the Lacs Bessons are just some of the possible hiking destinations around the refuge. All the routes and summits accessible in summer are also accessible in winter, by ski touring.

You'll be welcomed by the wardens, with your family, alone or with friends, for a gourmet break or a well-deserved night's rest.
