Gîte d'étape Refuge du Haugarou

The refuge of Haugarou dominates the valley of Bergons, it is located on the GR101 and on the tour of the valley of azun. It was completely renovated in 2020. Immersed in nature, the refuge works in total autonomy thanks to renewable energies, the water comes from the nearby spring.

The refuge is accessible by car, from spring to autumn, by the road from the Spandelles pass or by the track from the Couraduque pass.

In winter, the refuge resumes its traditional function of "refuge", it is accessible only by foot, snowshoes or ski by a groomed track of 3,5km from the parking of the Couraduque station (Nordic space of the Val d'Azun). During this period, we can bring your luggage to the refuge by snowmobile with sled from the station parking.

In summer, the mountain bike and trail routes located nearby allow you to easily reach the refuge. It is also possible to come with horses or donkeys, a park is at their disposal free of charge on reservation.
